For Medimops.de, FATCHIP realized an online shop that runs stable and highly efficient, even under high performance pressure. The OXID eShop Enterprise Edition 4 represented the basis and was extended and adapted according to the customer’s requests.

Customer profile

Medimops.de offers a huge variety of used books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, games consoles and computer games at low prices. The product range comprises more than one million second hand media items; up to 50,000 products are added daily. Discounts up to 70 per cent compared to the original price are not unusual. Every article is checked quality-wise before being sold.

Requirement

The customer wanted a highly efficient online shop with a modern look. Different interfaces and features were to be integrated. The integration of payment providers and a connection to amazon.com where the retail customer is able to find an article that is not available on Medimops.de, are just a couple of examples.

Technical realization

FATCHIP adapted the online shop to the requests and needs of the customer. Besides the common frontend template adjustments, an extension of the shop was realized concerning the redirection of the retail costumer to amazon.com when the article is no longer available. Since the web shop contains numerous articles and has many site hits, an optimization of its performance needed to be established. That was realized through load balancing with which the data is spread on six different servers in order to ensure a low page load times.
